Today is D-Day for the club which needs to show Football Federation that it has been able to generate the $2.5m demanded by the governing body.

Reports from Townsville today suggest current cash in the bank is more like $1.5m-$2m but with optimism that the rest is close to being secured.

As officials prepare to sit down with the FFA, the players await their fate. And at least one member of the squad is maintaining a positive outlook.

"Everyone is doing their best to stay as positive as they can at the club," Stefanutto told the Cairns Post.

"The business community has really started to come on board here and with the support of the FFA I honestly hope and believe there will be an NQ Fury side next season.

"I think all parties will come together and something will be worked out. I think lessons will be learned and we'll come through this better and stronger than before."

When the club's plight was made public, The North Queensland Fury "Fighting Force" of local business identities set up a website www.savethefury.com.au to rally support and pledges of sponsorship.
