SYDNEY FC's high-flying National Youth League side have set their sights on next weekend's Grand Final against Adelaide United after warming up for the season decider with a hard fought 1-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday evening at Pluim Park, near Gosford.
Despite the narrow scoreline the junior Sky Blues were rarely troubled by the home team and were on the front-foot from the outset, with Robbie Mileski claiming his fourth goal of the campaign and giving Sydney the lead after only nine minutes of play.
Steve O'Connor's young charges were industrious throughout and always looked in control of the final-round contest, and they'll carry plenty of confidence into the final against the Reds, who earned the right to face Sydney courtesy of their high scoring draw with the Queensland Roar.
The inaugural National Youth League Grand Final is scheduled to be played next Saturday, February 21 as a curtain-raiser to the Hyundai A-League preliminary final between Adelaide and Queensland.
