Tagg – a former assistant Head of Performance at Fulham – is no stranger to the demands of international and elite sport having worked as a consultant to England’s 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.

He also enjoyed spells with the Sydney Roosters, London Broncos rugby league club and the London Irish rugby union club - considered one of the top rugby clubs in Europe. Most recently he worked with Netball Queensland.

This is Tagg’s second stint at the Reds and follows nine months with the club in the lead up to, and during, the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 Season.

Adelaide United Football Director Michael Petrillo said securing a high performance specialist of Tagg’s stature was a major coup which should see the squad in top physical condition heading into their next campaign.

“We know Sean well from his last stint here and with the experience he has gained in his field having spent three years with Fulham, we’re extremely happy to have him back,” Petrillo said.

“He knows the club, the A-League, what’s expected to perform at this level and he did a lot of ground work leading into the 2010/11 season, so we’re delighted that he has agreed to take on the role.”

Tagg will head the Reds’ fitness and conditioning program and said he is excited by the prospect of making Adelaide United’s squad one of the fittest in the Hyundai A-League.

“I’m looking forward to continuing on what we started a couple of years ago and the challenge of making this team a great team,” Tagg said.

“There will be real focus on players getting through the preseason injury free and it’s about training them to be footballers, and this means tailoring the training specific to making the squad football fit and give them what they need in a physical conditioning sense to perform at their best.”

Tagg’s first duty will be to touch base with the players before they go on annual leave at the end of next week and then preparing to hit the ground running for the start of preseason in early July.
