The Sky Blues were rewarded a break after finishing first in a super season and will now play their first opponents at home at Allianz Stadium.

Perth broke down the insipid Melbourne City 2-0 away in the eliminitation final on Sunday and Taggart felt Sydney’s week off could make or break them.

“Hopefully the week off gets them a bit sluggish to start off with and we can capitalise on that, it’s finals football and anything can happen,” Taggart told FourFourTwo.

“We’re probably going to have to give an extra 20 per cent if we want to hold on to a clean sheet against them.

“Even as a striker I’m buzzing with a clean sheet against City, it’s always been an issue of ours during the season that we’ve been trying to address.”

Taggart has enjoyed 23 appearances and 12 goals in his second spell for Glory after returning from the UK.

The forgotten Socceroo has no plans on leaving the A-League any time soon.

“I came back to get game time, get my body right and things like that and I’ve been able to do that,” he said.

“I’m in a good place at the moment living in Perth and play for my home club, in a good place personally and it’s fantastic to be involved.”
