Fowler has been impressed with his second visit to Australia and will head home to consult his wife and children over a possible switch to the A-League's new boys.

Should the Fowler family decide that life in Townsville ticks all the boxes then teammate Talay will be absolutely delighted.

Had matters taken a different turn ahead of A-League season three then the pair could have been colleagues for Sydney FC.

It wasn't to be on that occasion but Talay admits he'd love to link up with Fowler this time round.

The midfielder told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "It would be a great boost if the club could bring in Robbie Fowler.

"We already have some very good players to start next season and I think if Fergie (coach Ian Ferguson) could get Robbie then that would be the icing on the cake.

"Robbie didn't go to Sydney but that's football. Players make the decision that they think is best for them.

"If this happens, great, if it doesn't then we are still looking forward to the season."

Talay and his fellow signings have not generated as many glitzy headlines as fellow A-League newcomers Gold Coast United but the midfielder isn't concerned about that.

He said: "North Queensland may have flown under the radar a little bit but Fergie has done a good job and we are looking to get started."

Talay admits he'd love to get cracking right away but will have to wait until April when the Fury players report for pre-season.

Not that he's going to be idle in the build up. He said: "I'm training with Ante Milicic's Sydney United to keep myself active."

Meanwhile, Fury chairman Don Matheson has revealed that players already signed for the inaugural campaign are on the phone eager for Fowler updates.

It is not yet clear when the club will receive a decision either way.
