Rogic, 19, is one of the hottest newest stars of the A-League after an eye-catching debut season for the Mariners.
Rogic, keeper Mat Ryan and strikers Mitchell Duke and Bernie Ibini and defenders Trent Sainsbury and Zac Anderson are just some of the younger stars set to power Central Coast this season.
Joining mid-campaign from the UK's Nike Chance academy after a deal to EPL club Reading fell through, Rogic is one of this nation’s biggest new talents in the number ten role.
But being in the presence of football royalty left the Canberra-born former Futsal star dumbstruck at today’s Sydney big A-League launch at Parramatta Stadium, a launch attended by around 50 media.
“It’s crazy. I was asked to stand in a photo with Alessandro, Emile and Shinji. It’s surreal and crazy but I’m going to be facing up to these guys this season so it’s pretty cool and something I’m looking forward to," Rogic told au.fourfourtwo.com.
This season many are tipping Rogic to have an even better season as the words ‘future’ and ‘Socceroo’ are bandied about.
Rogic plays down the hype but clearly feels confident that he’s still getting better.
“I’m obviously still developing, as all young players do and it’s natural to be a little inconsistent, but I think all aspects of my game have improved.
“I’m more experienced and mentally tougher now than I was two years ago when I was going through the Nike Chance.
“Although I haven’t played that much I guess I have come along way in the last two years.
“The thing about last season,” he added. “It all happened so quickly. I guess it was a little surreal at times."
During the off-season Rogic was able to reflect back on the season. To play as much as he did in the A-League and play in the Asian Champions League was a fine effort.
Rogic is set to line-up against Wanderers and Ono this Saturday in round one of the A-League.
The teenager added: “It’s cool being a professional footballer. To do something you love as a job makes you feel very lucky.
“And I’m looking forward to the year and I’m doing everything I can to make it a good one for myself and my team.”
