IPSWICH have revealed talks with former Manchester City defender Ben Thatcher are ongoing but have denied making a bid for Portsmouth misfit David Nugent.
Thatcher is a free agent and spent a week with Ipswich on their pre-season tour of Northern Ireland but he also played in a trial game for Wolves this week.
Striker Nugent was the target of a failed loan approach from Ipswich in March but boss Jim Magilton has admitted he would still be interested in signing the former Preston forward.
Ipswich chief executive Derek Bowden told the club's official website: "We have not made any formal offer for the player (Nugent).
"We are in discussions with Ben Thatcher and we will see what develops over the next few days."
