EXCLUSIVE: Lawrie McKinna believes the A-League's Scottish flavour will grow stronger as players see their countrymen thrive Down Under.
Mariners' McKinna, Victory's Ernie Merrick and Fury's Ian Ferguson have all been part of the Australian scene for many many years but there's no disguising where they come from and have looked to their homeland for recruits.
And while Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell might have played for the Socceroos, his accent is all Scottish.
On the playing front the Mariners have recruited Scotsman Chris Doig and are close to signing former Celtic youngster Michael McGlinchey.
Brisbane Roar are looking at former Rangers man Bob Malcom and already have Charlie Miller on the books. Skipper Craig Moore played the bulk of his career at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League as did Victory skipper Kevin Muscat.
Melbourne also has Grant Brebner, while North Queensland Fury have Scott Wilson on the playing roster.
Mariners boss McKinna believes the A-League has never looked more attractive and is a great alternative to the Scottish Premier League.
He isn't surprised Scots are heading this way and making the most of the opportunity.
"Scottish football's renowned for its good work ethic and Scottish people in general are easy to get on with," McKinna told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"We have bigger crowds than a lot of SPL clubs and as good if not better stadiums - Rangers and Celtic excepted. Why would it not be a good career move?
"Doigy has come in at a good price and given us that leadership and experience we lacked at the back. McGlinchey's quite polished and tidy."
As for Roar's Scottish contingent, one of their Aussie teammates thinks he knows why the Scots have adapted so well while others from abroad have struggled.
Defender Josh McCloughan said: "Scottish football is fast and there's that physical element, as there is here.
"You don't get a couple of years to adapt here, it is pretty cut-throat. I just think the Scottish guys have the steel to survive."
