Kewell is now Watford U21s coach as moves into management after an illustrious career on the field, and in the new FourFourTwo, he looks back at his key matches that shaped him over the last 20 years.

And he reveals it all began with a loss, when he made his Premier League debut as a teenager for Leeds United against Middlesbrough in 1996.

The clash finished in a 1-0 win for the north-east visitors – but even the bitter taste of defeat couldn't sour the moment for Kewell.

In the latest issue of Australian FourFourTwo – a bumper A-League preview special, on sale now – he admits nothing could dent that feeling of excitement.

"This was my debut at 17," he tells FourFourTwo. "I was called into a meeting with great players like Gary Speed and Gary McAllister, then I learned I was in the team and everyone congratulated me.

"Moments like that are priceless. When I played, I thought: 'Oh my god, I want more of this!"

Kewell also reveals the three other games that changed his life in the article, including one A-League match that will always be special to him.

Elsewhere in FourFourTwo, the mag reveals its ultimate A-League preview, with every team picked apart, coaches and tactics analysed, strengths and weaknesses assessed and Fox Sports Simon Hill gives his verdict on how each club will finish at the end of the season ahead, plus we interview every club's star player.

Plus we go inside Adelaide United to find the secret of their Reds Revolution that saw rookie coach Guillermo Amor do the double – despite being in last place after eight games – in his debut year.
