Pohang Steelers missed an opportunity to go top of the K-League today as the Korean FA Cup holders were held 1-1 at home by Gyeongnam FC.
Looking for a lift before Wednesday's Asian Champions League clash against Kawasaki Frontale, Pohang took the lead four minutes before the break when striker Nam Kung-do, playing in place of the suspended Stevica Ristic, headed home Hwang Jin-sung's free-kick from the left.
But Gyeongnam got back on terms midway through the second half as Hwang Jin-sung lost the ball to Kim Dong-chan and Brazilian playmaker Indio stepped in to score for his second successive game.
Lee Dong-gook scored both goals but was also sent off as former Asian champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors defeated Daegu FC 2-0.
The ex-Middlesbrough striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before half-time and added a second with a scorching half-volley with 14 minutes remaining.
But Lee's over-exuberant goal celebration earned him a second yellow card and his marching orders.
South Korea international striker Jung Sung-hoon also bagged a brace as Busan I'Park fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Chunnam Dragons.
In the day's other game, over 32,000 fans saw Jeju United defeat Gwangju Sangmu 1-0.
League newcomers Gangwon FC lead the way with maximum points after defeating FC Seoul 2-1 yesterday for their second win in a row.
