The match review panel added an additional match suspension to Theoklitos’ one-game ban, meaning the 27-year-old will miss the Victory’s home matches against the Roar and Glory.

Melbourne spent much of Monday morning weighing up its options whether to contest Theoklitos' dismissal as an 'obvious red card error', but decided against appealing.

However, the Victory may appeal the two-match sanction and have until 12pm (AEST) on Tuesday to decide whether they wish to have the matter heard by the disciplinary committee.

It is a process Melbourne is well familiar with having gone through an appeal against the red card handed out to Brazilian striker Ney Fabiano in the 1-0 win over Adelaide in Round 4.

The appeal failed and Ney Fabiano was then slapped with a five-match additional ban by the MRP before the Independent Disciplinary Committee lengthened that to eight additional matches.

That judgement will be appealed again, with that hearing to be heard either Wednesday or Thursday this week.
