FORMER Queensland Roar sponsor WAECO has signed a two-year deal to appear on Gold Coast United's new kit.
The portable refrigeration manufacturer will have their brand name on the front and back of the team shorts.
The company's logo will appear on both the Gold Coast United A-League first team strip and Youth League strip, with the arrangement including a further two-year option beyond 2011.
After concluding a three-year sponsorship arrangement with United's rivals Queensland Roar, WAECO CEO Andreas Bishof said his company's brand was a good fit with United, particularly as the company has its offices on the Gold Coast.
"We are extremely proud to sponsor Gold Coast United. With our head office on the Gold Coast, it was a natural step to support our local club," he said.
"We have seen the benefits of our agreement with Queensland Roar and watched them grow over the last three years. There is no doubt the sport is growing in Australia, creating room for additional teams in the Hyundai A-League. "
Gold Coast United CEO Clive Mensink thanked WAECO for their continued support of football in Australia.
"We are delighted to have WAECO on board with us," said Mensink. "They have a history of commitment to football and are a strong international brand with local roots here on the Gold Coast.
"We are looking forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with WAECO and congratulate them on their vision in recognising the opportunities presented by football, especially in these tough economic times."
