Midfielder Yuki Abe, forward Edmilson and fellow Brazilian Robson Ponte each struck a goal apiece to hand the Reds their first win on home soil since August 23 last year.

"Since we lost in our season opener last weekend and it was a home game today, we couldn't afford to lose again this time around. I'm glad we won," said Abe.

The Japan international put his side ahead after only five minutes, skilfully connecting with a Ponte corner to send a right-footed volley into the back of the net.

Tokyo were level 10 minutes later however as a cross from right-back Yuhei Tokunaga found Brazilian forward Cabore, who lost his marker before putting the ball into the net.

Cabore came close again in the 24th minute but Reds goalkeeper Ryota Tsuzuki saved well from his effort.

But four minutes after the break Edmilson put the hosts ahead with a fine volley from a Ponte cross.

German coach Finke brought on young midfielder Naoki Yamada in the 80th minute and he made an immediate impact as he had a hand in his side's third goal five minutes later.

The 18-year-old fed a pass to Ponte and the Brazilian fired home from the right side of the box.

"We were not really playing so well for the first 10 minutes but we gradually improved our game and had a good second half," said Finke.

"As I wanted to win my first home game in Japan, I'm pleased with the result."

Elsewhere, Gamba Osaka secured a comfortable 4-1 win at home to Jubilo Iwata.

Gamba and Japan midfielder Yasuhito Endo converted a penalty in the 36th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Gamba new boy Park Dong-hyuk made it 2-0 in the 55th minute before Jubilo's Brazilian forward Gilsinho pulled one back from the penalty spot two minutes later.

But Endo restored the hosts' two-goal lead in the 63rd minute with another penalty before Brazilian forward Leandro completed the scoring for the Asian champions four minutes later.

Nagoya Grampus battled hard in heavy snow to grind out a goalless draw at Montedio Yamagata.

"It was much more difficult for us than Yamagata to play in this heavy snow," Nagoya boss Dragan Stojkovic said.

"They were very eager given that it was their first home game in Division One but we gave them a good game in the second half and didn't give away a goal. I'm satisfied with our game."

Kawasaki Frontale suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Vissel Kobe after Jong Tae Se's 45th-minute opener was cancelled out by Daisuke Sudo three minutes into the second half. Kobe substitute forward scored the winner in the 66th minute.

Finally, Shimizu S-Pulse played out a goalless draw with Yokohama F Marinos, Kashiwa Reysol were held to a 1-1 draw by JEF United Chiba while Oita Trinita downed Kyoto Sanga 1-0.
