The Serbian, who played for the Mestalla outfit between 1997 and 2003, arrived in the city to sign his contract on Tuesday, with an official presentation set for the day after.

He gave an interview after arriving at Valencia train station, expressing his excitement at taking on the role.

"I think we have a very good and very competitive team which is ready to achieve the club's goals," the 47-year-old told the club's official website.

"I am ready and I have the calm that comes from knowing we have the tools to do great things.

"There is a good squad here who can achieve great things.

"To me, it's a dream to come to Valencia. This is home to me, and I have always regarded it as so."

Djukic confirmed his exit from Real Valladolid on Thursday in search of a new challenge after two years at the club.

After initially steering the Castilian club to promotion from Liga Adelante in 2012, Djukic secured top-flight safety for Valladolid with a 14th-placed finish last term.
