Holland face World Cup qualifiers against Iceland and Norway in June, when the European Under-21 Championships is also due to take place, while Ajax could also be involved in the preliminary rounds for the Champions League.

"That is without doubt ridiculous," he said. "I think the schedule is a really bad one.

"UEFA plans qualifiers for the Champions League and the Europa League for the first time. The preliminary rounds start in July. The KNVB has adjusted the Eredivisie schedule to suit that which means the competition starts at the end of July.

"But the KNVB also wants to play play-offs, which mean the current club season ends late.

"FIFA in the meantime plan World Cup qualifiers and then there is the 2009 European Under-21 Championships between June 15 and 30 in which Serbia, for instance, are participating.

"We and other clubs start pre-season on June 22. Tell me, when can the guys have a holiday?"

Ajax forward Miralem Sulejmani is likely to be in the Serbia U-21 squad for the tournament.
