MELBOURNE Victory CEO Geoff Miles today said the club is happy with the A-League draw, which will see the reigning Premiers and Champions host 14 home matches at Etihad Stadium.
Melbourne Victory will open the extended 27-round season against Central Coast Mariners at Etihad Stadium on Thursday, 6 August, and will also face key rivals Sydney FC and Adelaide United twice each in Melbourne.
"We're really pleased with the draw and believe it provides a good mix for our team as well as our loyal members and supporters," Miles said.
"The expansion of the Hyundai A-League has given us the opportunity to host an additional three home matches at Etihad Stadium this season, and we also have four blockbusters against our key rivals Sydney FC and Adelaide United.
"We have a great start to our Premiership and Championship defence with four of our opening six matches at home.
"We're also able to provide an even spread of days for our fans with two games each on Thursday and Friday, eight on Saturday, one on Sunday, and one on the Australia Day public holiday.
"We will face some challenges on the road midway during the season and we do have some tight turnarounds in January, however overall we believe the draw for the new season is a very positive one for our club."
