MELBOURNE Victory star Archie Thompson says he believes his side can still qualify for the AFC Champions League knockout stage despite their poor start in the group.
Victory lost their opening two ACL fixtures 5-1 away to Gamba Osaka and 2-1 at home to Jeju United, to sit bottom of Group E.
"It's difficult because the competition is always very tough," Thompson told the Herald Sun.
"We still want to progress and I still believe we've got the squad and players to do it. We've got to believe it.
"I know we're capable of going through and we've got to pick up points."
