EXCLUSIVE: Melbourne Victory are set to announce young Welsh coach Darren Davies as their new youth team coach to replace Mehmet Durakovic who now coaches the senior squad.
Davies, 33, comes from the coaching staff at the Queensland Academy of Sport.
The UEFA 'A' licenced coach also played for QSL side Redland City Devils in 2009 after a senior career playing non-league football in the UK.
The shortlist for the Victory NYL job is said to have included VTC coach Boris Soreshtan.
While a Victorian coach did not get the job, former All-White and South Melbourne great Vaughan Coveny has been named as Davies’ assistant. The Kiwi last coached South Melbourne in the VPL.
Across town and the Melbourne Heart youth team will be coached by John Aloisi with his assistant a rising star of the coaching scene, Arthur Papas.
