The youngster - once hailed as the next Mark Bosnich - announced the move on Twitter this afternoon, saying: "I can now confirm that i have agreed terms with Melbourne Victory FC. Looking forward to the new season with my new club. #cantwait"

Earlier in the day, he teased fans by saying he had "just made the biggest decision of his life".

Bouzanis, 20, was snapped up by Liverpool at the age of 16 in 2007 and was aiming to bypass the youth academy and move straight into the senior squad.

He was sent out on loan to Sydney FC for their Asian Champions League campaign in a deal that would keep him with the Sky Blues until January 2008 when he would return to Anfield and fight for a place in the Reds' first team.

But Sydney cut the loan spell short after their ACL campaign and Bouzanis then struggled to find a place at Liverpool.

He was sent out on loan again with Accrington Standley in 2009 for first team experience and then finally walked away from the Premier League giants in April to focus on guaranteed game time.

Bouzanis has represented Australia at all youth levels - after a brief flirtation with the Greek national youth team - and is now aiming for a place in the Olyroos if they make it to London 2012.

He will now be in a straight battle for the gloves at Victory with fellow new signing Tando Velaphi who came in from Perth Glory. Both the youngsters replace Mitch Langerak and Michael Petkovic.

Although Bouzanis and the club have agreed terms, both stressed this afternoon that the deal had yet to be finalised.

Bouzanis took to Twitter again to add later: "Sorry guys! While I've agreed to terms with @gomvfc I've not put pen to paper yet. Watch this space."
