AURELIO Vidmar hopes Adelaide United's 2-0 triumph over North Queensland Fury proves to be the side's turning point this season.
"It's never easy coming over here, it's very difficult conditions with the weather, but I thought our boys were fantastic, they really dug deep tonight," Vidmar said.
"They certainly hung in there in the first half and then dictated the majority of that second half so it was a fantastic effort."
Vidmar was also full of praise for his Galekovic, who kept the Reds in the match as Fury invaded the United goal, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
"He (Galekovic) was fantastic tonight. He's been brilliant ever since he came to the club. He was our club champion last year and he's without doubt the best goalkeeper in the competition," Vidmar said.
"He's just one of those players that continues to work...so he's got a great attitude and I'm really thrilled to have him."
The killer, second goal was scored by Matthew Leckie, a late substitute for Pantelis.
"We thought we would throw Matty (Leckie) on, he's got a bit of pace and certainly knows where the goals are. The way he took that goal, he took it very well and we think this kid is something special so well done to him and hopefully he can continue his decent form," Vidmar said.
Having recorded just two wins from the opening seven rounds, Vidmar is optimistic that the performance and the positive result can kick start his side's season.
Vidmar added: "We spoke about making this game a turning point for our season and I thought it was a fantastic effort, we really lifted today, dug deep and stuck to the game plan, so hopefully from this point we can continue to do our work, keep the intensity up at training and look forward to the game at home against Newcastle on Monday week."
