AURELIO Vidmar remains confident Adelaide United can still finish top of the pile despite having to end their campaign with two tough road trips to Gosford and Wellington.
The Reds could only manage a goalless draw with Queensland Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium last night, their game in hand on second-placed Melbourne Victory.
The gap between the two teams is two points with both sides having two games remaining. Melbourne's fixtures are both on home turf however.
Vidmar said: "We’re still in with a good shot. Obviously it is going to be a lot tougher with two tough away trips to Wellington Phoenix and the Central Coast but we’re still in it with a decent chance.
“Playing four games in ten days and then Sunday’s game will be five in 15 (days), that’s a pretty tough ask in anyone’s book, so it was a bit of a cagey performance from both sides.
"We were certainly not up to scratch but I can’t fault the players’ endeavour.
“We gave the ball away a lot, especially in the first half but that’s the way it is. We tried to push as much as we could in the second half but it was just one of those nights.
“They gave everything they possibly could, sure they were fatigued but at least the endeavour was there and I think if we can freshen up a bit that will obviously help heading into Sunday.”
