United can only use three of their four foreign players in the Asian Champions League with the Hindmarsh men due to face a quarter-final clash against Kashima Antlers in September.

Cristiano, Alemao, Cassio and Diego are all available but one man will be left out in the cold.

Midfielder Diego told the Adelaide Advertiser: "It will be disappointing. All four of us want to be there but one will have to miss out.
We don't know who that person is yet but I guess we will find out soon."

United coach Vidmar is looking for his new recruits to settle as quickly as possible in both the domestic competition and in Asia.

He said: "The A-League doesn't give you three or four years to settle as a player.

"This year will prove a point as everyone is trying to become better and stronger. Sometimes if you don't perform in one year you are released. That is the nature of the beast. There is no room for mediocrity."
