Internazionale midfielder Patrick Vieira has been banned for two games after insulting the referee in Sunday's 1-0 triumph against Empoli.
Vieira was sent-off shortly before half-time after picking up his second booking.
The Frenchman later apologised as his team were made to play their third game in a row with a numerical disadvantage.
"I made a mistake," said Vieira. "I said to the referee to go to hell and I shouldn't have done that. I am sorry to have left my team down to 10 men but I'm happy that we still managed to win."
The Frenchman has been fined 5000 euros and will miss the clash at Catania and the game against Livorno.
Serie A leaders Inter go into this weekend's game at Catania with an eight-point cushion over title rivals Roma.
