North Queensland will be without striker Eugene Sseppuya for their match against Wellington in New Zealand on Friday night due to visa problems.

The Ugandan international was left stranded at Townsville airport on Wednesday when the rest of the side left to cross the Tasman.

Frantic efforts to have the visa issue addressed were unsuccessful with the Fury conceding on Wednesday they would have to go without him.

"The North Queensland Fury sought advice in advance of the team travelling to New Zealand and was led to believe he had the correct immigration documentation to enter the country," a club statement read.

Sseppuya's travel ban comes as a major setback, with the Fury's attacking stocks at an all-time low.

Dyron Daal failed a fitness test on Tuesday and Chris Payne is on Australian under-23 duties in Vietnam, leaving David Williams as the only out-and-out striker left to play against the Phoenix.

Talking to media before the drama unfolded, Sseppuya spoke of being hungry to snap his four-game goal drought.

As he did so, the 27-year-old also rated the sides attacking riches and ability to end the two-game barren run which has seen them go down to Melbourne Heart, 1-0, and come away with a point in a scoreless draw with Melbourne Victory.

"There are many attacking weapons," Sseppuya said.

The only contingency plan at the Fury's disposal is defender Brett Studman who travelled with what was supposed to be an extended squad of 16. The outfit is otherwise unchanged to the side that drew with the Victory.

Sseppuya will now travel to Sydney on Saturday to meet up with the squad ahead of the club's matches against the Sky Blues and Central Coast Mariners.

Daal and German defender Andre Killian, who is yet to make an A-League appearance, will also come into selection contention for the Wednesday's meeting with Sydney.
