FourFourTwo was in attendance as the VPL season reached its climax with Green Gully running out comfortable winners in the Grand Final.
Green Gully
NIKOLA ROGANOVIC - 7
The keeper had little to do but handled what he had with usual expertise. He left his line to clear a couple of long passes.
CAMERON DRAKE - 6.5
He did what he had to do with minimal fuss in the right fullback position but the Eagles did look dangerous attacking down the left.
DANIEL JONES - 8
Made a couple of important clearances in the centre of defence and tracking back to cope with Jesse Krncevic.
MILE MEDJEDOVIC - 7
He was very solid alongside Jones and dealt with a number of high balls.
STEVEN BURTON - 8
Another excellent game on the left, streaming forward to put in a number of crosses and scored from the spot to put the cream on the cake late on.
JEFFREY FLEMING - 8
The general was himself in the holding role in midfield. He did what his team required of him and almost got on the scoresheet as well.
ANDY VARGAS - 7
Not at his best but still played his part in a dominant Gully midfield.
JASON HAYNE - 8
He was excellent on the right hand side, providing plenty of width and was involved in both goals in the first half.
GRAHAM HOCKLESS - 9
He was the best player on the pitch with some terrific touches and a goal.
MATHEW SANDERS - 7
He did what he had to do and continued to work hard, getting into position to open the scoring with a simple finish.
BRENT FISHER - 8.5
Important being the target man and he did a terrific job bringing his midfielders into the game.
Substitutes
JONATHAN MUNOZ - 6
MICHAEL ANDERSON - 6
DEAN FAK - 6
Richmond
STJEPAN GAL - 6
He wasn't provided with much cover for any of the goals but would be disappointed he couldn't at least keep out the second.
ANDREW VIOLA - 6.5
Pushed forward but exposed by Burton on the left before switching flanks in the second half, where Hayne too worked hard into space.
ANTUN KOVACIC - 7.5
Received praise from his coach in the post match and often proved strong in the centre of defence under heavy pressure.
TOMISLAV MILARDOVIC - 5
Gave away a penalty and was given his marching orders late in the game, he looked a frustrated character throughout.
ERHAN KARAHAN - 6
He came up from his injury last week but was substituted at half time, lacking any attacking threat in the first half.
DIMITRI TSIARAS - 6.5
He worked hard as he usually does but lacked any creativity going forward.
STEVEN TOPALOVIC - 7
Provided an attacking threat down the right in the second half, but he struggled to create anything on the right side of midfield in the opening period.
MICHAEL FERRANTE - 7
His first quarter of an hour was excellent, but he drifted out of the game and was forced to track deep to gain possession.
DANIEL VISEVIC - 7.5
Tried hard and attempted a range of passes, but he too was forced deep to collect.
DAVEY VAN'T SCHIP - 6
Struggled in a very attacking role and was substituted in the second half.
JESSE KRNCEVIC - 7
He worked tirelessly and had a couple of half-chances, but it wasn't to be his night, also having a header cleared off the line.
Substitutes
MICHAEL CATALANO - 7
Had an impact in a half of football, providing liveliness to his sluggish team on the left.
MATE ETEROVIC - 6
MILOS LUJIC - 6
