Ahead of this weekend’s much anticipated Sydney derby, Western Sydney attacker Jaushua Sotirio is plotting revenge after the Wanderers loss to the Sky Blues in the FFA Cup.
Sotirio and the Wanderers are still burning after being on the end of a 3-0 loss in the FFA Cup semi-final just a few weeks ago.
This weekend’s Sydney derby takes place at the SCG and will be the first time a competitive football match takes place at the iconic venue.
But Western Sydney attacker Sotirio isn’t concerned where the game is taking place as the only thing on his mind is overturning the Wanderers most recent loss to their bitter rivals.
“We want to get our revenge,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter where we play against them we are going to give 100% and our all. We are feeling confident.
“We lost in the FFA Cup semi-final against them and we are excited coming up against them to show them what we’ve got.
“We have reviewed the game and we definitely had our chances in the first half but we didn’t capitalise on them.
“They are a good team, they had two or three chances and they converted them.
“If we just work on our chances we will be all right."
Sotirio is now in his fifth season at the Wanderers and the 23-year-old believes now is the time to take his game to the next level and wants to start in this weekend’s grudge match.
“I’ve played in a couple of derbies now,” he said. “I definitely want to show my experience and I will definitely go in there with the right mentality.
“I’m trying to improve myself and I’ve set some personal goals so I will try and do well this season.
