The Portuguese forward joined Real in a world-record £80million move from Manchester United last summer and has continued the form he enjoyed at Old Trafford.

The Spanish giants have experienced a mixed season in which they experienced an early exit from the Champions League, but are still in the race for the league title with Barcelona, albeit a point adrift of the defending champions with four games to go.

However, Ronaldo continues to believe Real can pip their Catalan rivals as long as they win all their remaining matches.

He said: "I hope we can be champions this season and I am confident Barcelona will fail in one of their remaining four games and we can win the title.

"Barcelona have to play Villarreal and Sevilla and I hope they can lose points and we win. There are four games left and we must win and wait.

"We think it is possible."

The 25-year-old is proud of his efforts at the Bernabeu and believes it could have been the best season of his career had he not suffered an ankle injury in a Champions League clash with Marseille which ruled him out for 12 matches late last year.

"Before the game against Marseille I felt pretty good, motivated and confident," he added in O Jogo. "Then I missed 12 games. I believe that could have been my best season but that's life and injuries are a part of that."
