In front of a sea of empty yellow seats, the distance derby ignored the lack of hype to provide a cracking contest.
WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Tando Velaphi: 6 - On debut against his former club, didn't trust his wall from set-pieces and, as a result, couldn't do much about Diego Castro's goal.
Scott Galloway: 5.5 - Tenacious early, biting at Castro's heels. When he pushed inside, he was far less valuable. Conceded a touch-and-go penalty out of position to gift Perth the chance to win, lucky that Castro embarassed himself.
Andrew Durante: 7.5 - Captain corageous as-per-usual. Always impresses with his technical ability and willingness to drive forward.
Dylan Fox: 7 - Provided a target from corners and was quick to mop loose balls.
Tom Doyle: 5 - Always bursts a lung marauding down the touchline, tracked back sufficiently to nullify Jacob Italiano, but lost his head completely in the second half.
Matthew Ridenton: 6.5 - A few flashy moments and impressive passes. Ridenton's one of the 'Nix's youngsters threatened by 'natural selection', and he played like he knew it.
Sarpreet Singh: 7 - Remember the name. We've just never seen a starting debut like it, a perfect strike into the top corner after two minutes. Considering he almost scored in an earlier substitute appearance from similar range, he's definitely one to watch.
Matija Ljujic: 6 - Fantastic shooting technique and took up dangerous positions, without having a substantial impact on the match, bar a few in-swinging corners. Phoenix need far more than a sharp-shooter.
Nathan Burns: 5.5 - Threatened early, before receding. Much like Wellington's season.
Andrija Kaludjerovic: 6.5 - Looking to break an ever-growing scoring drought, he was willing to force his involvement by playing physical, taking snap shots and providing ambitious flick-ons. Bossed around by Perth's defence for large periods.
Monty Patterson: 5 - Hasn't imposed his quality, seems to lack penetration and quick-thinking for a winger. Subbed at half-time.
SUBS
Roy Krishna: 7.5 - Brought on for Patterson, immediately benefiting Phoenix. It was telling that he eventually made the difference, but a tad selfish to waste a key opportunity to put Wellington two in front.
Mark McGlinchey: 6 - 200th A-League appearance off the bench without impact.
Alex Rufer: N/A
PERTH GLORY
Liam Reddy: 6 - Missed an early cross completely, and his inconsistency is clearly a factor in Perth's patchy defensive record. Made a strong save to deny Ljujic.
Scott Neville: 6 - Should have had a sublime assist but Castro butchered the opportunity, disappointing crosses after that.
Alex Grant: 7 - Slow to react to Singh for the opener, but recovered to provide a forceful presence throughout the match, constantly forcing Kaludjerovic backwards.
Shane Lowry: 8 - Suspended next week due to yellow card accumulation. A couple of shaky moments in possession, but as-usual strong in the box. Unlucky to concede a late own goal, from Krishna's effort.
Joseph Mills: 5 - Didn't look entirely comfortable against Patterson, which shouldn't have been a huge challenge, and things certainly didn't get easier against Krishna.
Jacob Italiano: 7 - Full of confidence due to his excellent natural ability. He was eager to provide driving, if not slightly aimless bursts forward, but could often recover due to impressive crossing. Perplexingly subbed off early.
Neil Kilkenny: 8 - Couldn't provide Glory the required defensive solidity in the first 20 minutes, constantly leaving gaping holes behind their high midfield line. Settled into the match, and was a key factor in Perth's midfield dominance. An absolute rock in the second period.
Xavi Torres: 6 - With faster forwards than Andy Keogh, Torres' slightly-off passing wouldn't be a problem. As it is, he has to be inch-perfect, and he hasn't shown that ability so far this season. Rubbish headers to boot.
Mitch Nichols: 5.5 - Impotent on the ball; slow to react and sloppy in his passing. Pushed centrally in the second half to good effect, but still lacked dynamism.
Diego Castro: 7 - That's the thing with Panenkas. When they come off, you're the hero. When they don't, and you chose to pull one off when it's 1-1, you're most certainly the villain. While it took the shine off, it's worth remembering his picture perfect free kick, found his spot - the inside of the far post - with sniper-like precision.
Andy Keogh: 4.5 - Very quiet in the opening half, but unlike Nichols, didn't improve in the second.

Joel Chianese: 6 - Very positive addition, but his delivery and final product underwhelmed.
