Newtown AFC announced their innovative creation on Twitter last weekend and have since garnered worldwide attention.

Newtown’s red home strip seamlessly inverts into a classy black and yellow striped away jersey with local sponsor 'Nidec' spread across both designs.

Fans of the Welsh club are delighted they’ll only have to pay £35 for both their club’s kits, however - this isn’t footballs first two-in-one shirt.

Football equipment supplier Umbro have previously released items of the same idea dating back to 2001. Umbro celebrated Manchester United’s centenary 2001/02 white away kit with a reversible gold number worn by legends David Beckham and Roy Keane.

Umbro also released the first National Team reversible kit for England’s 2002 World Cup campaign in South Korea and Japan. England’s red second kit showed the famous three lions crest while the reversible blue side showed Saint George’s Cross in it’s place.

Unfortunately for fans, the idea is unlikely to gain exposure from football’s top club’s in the current commercial state of world football.

Known by their supporter’s as the ‘Robins,’ Newtown AFC currently sit in 4th place of the Welsh Premier League. Founded in 1875, Newtown AFC boasts a rich history, with their most recent success coming in a 2015/16 Europa League first qualifying round win over Maltese side Valletta FC.

The jersey, or should I say jersey’s, are currently only available in a limited capacity by contacting Newtown AFC directly.
