Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the news at Tuesday morning’s press conference shortly after the London club landed in Sydney.

The 26-year-old France international last week signed with Arsenal from Olympique Lyon for a reported fee of almost $AU80million on a five-year deal.

“Lacazette will make his debut here,” Wenger said.

”On Thursday night he’ll play a part in the game. In both games he will play a part.”

The Gunners take on Sydney on Thursday night, followed by a clash with Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday evening at the same venue.

Lacazette, who scored 37 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season for Lyon, will battle with compatriot Olivier Giroud as Arsenal’s preferred striker.

The situation has led to speculation of a potential move away from the Emirates Stadium for Giroud but Wenger wasn’t fazed by the rumours.

“It’s always the same problem when you have only one striker, people ask 'why don’t you buy another one',” Wenger said.

“When you have two or three, they say 'but they’ll be unhappy, because they have too much competition'.

“That’s part of the job. We are in a job where we are doing what we love but we’ve chosen a competitive job.

“The players need to accept competition and my decisions as well.”

Wenger also said he was eager to keep Alexis Sanchez and denied the Chilean forward had informed him he wanted to leave.

The Frenchman also acknowledged his interest in 18-year-old Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.

“I believe nobody can say he’s not interested in a player of that caliber,” Wenger said.

“He has such rare and immense quality at 18-years of age. All clubs are interested.”

Arsenal’s French boss added he was hoping to make more additions to his squad ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

“I am open to get some more signings but it’s not easy to find the players who can strengthen our squad

“It’s very important for us to analyze what happened last year and where we can improve our squad.”
