The Football League is back
England’s Football League made a long-anticipated return this weekend, as thousands of British football fans travelled up and down the country to cheer-on their respective teams.
John Terry made his debut for Aston Villa in a 1-1 draw at home to Hull.
Meanwhile Wolves defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in a clash between the Championship’s two highest spenders.

Massimo Luongo’s QPR were one of the standout teams on the opening weekend, beating last season’s play-off finalists Reading 2-0.
A late Nelson Oliveira goal saw Norwich come from behind to draw with Fulham, while Sunderland and Derby also shared the points.
It wasn’t such a great day for Jackson Irvine’s Burton, who lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff.
Pre-season friendly abandoned
In the final weekend before the start of the Premier League, Burnley’s pre-season friendly against German side Hannover 96 had to be abandoned at half-time due to crowd trouble at Turf Moor.
The Premier League side were leading 1-0 after a goal from Ben Mee, when riot police were called in after supporters of the visiting side tried to attack home fans.
Elsewhere, Liverpool finished their pre-season in style with a 3-1 victory over Athletic Club in Dublin.

Roberto Firmino, Dominic Solanke and Ben Woodburn scored the goals for Jürgen Klopp’s side in front of 51,333 fans at the Aviva Stadium.
Even so, the Reds were dealt a significant injury blow earlier in the week when it was confirmed that Adam Lallana would miss the first three months of the season with a thigh injury.
Tottenham also won their final friendly of the British summer, beating Juventus 2-0 at Wembley following goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.
