Fury lost 2-1 to Gold Coast at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville last Sunday and with just four full days in-between games, Fury have had little time to wallow after a flat performance.

However with a short week, Franz Straka’s men have the chance to swiftly wipe away last Sunday’s memories and that’s just the way Socceroo Williams likes it.

“What they do in England where they play two or three games in a week that’s football. You come out, do your recovery and a few light sessions then you’re back playing,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“That’s football. I don’t play football to train, I want to play. I’m in this career to play games for those 90 minutes.

“I can imagine how it is overseas right now and it’s something I’m looking forward to if I can get there one day.”

Williams, formerly of Brondby and Queensland Roar, has a contract with Fury till the end of next season but while the FFA remain tight-lipped over the club’s future, uncertainty remains.

Already exciting Fury striker Isaka Cernak has moved on to Melbourne Victory.

However the club stress keeper Justin Pasfield has not yet signed with the Mariners – despite reports to the contrary.

It's known other players are also being circled in particular from one A-League club.

It’s a troubling situation for all at the club but Williams, 22, sees a playing group united behind the franchise and keen to keep the momentum going for the A-League in the north of Queensland.

“We have the heart here to play at Fury. You wouldn’t be up here for nothing. We’ve got the desire for the club to succeed," he said.

“Maybe not in last Sunday’s game but in so many other games you just see them working their butt off for the team and do everything for the team.

“We’re struggling in some respects but we’ve got a team and a core and even everyone in the office are working their butts off to try and get everything sorted out for us boys.

"We’re trying to survive and the willingness is there by these boys to do their job.”

Frustrating Williams also is some of the refereeing.  A contentious free-kick given by Matthew Breeze against Williams on Sunday allowed Gold Coast to float in a ball for defender Dino Djublic to head home the winner.

Williams was dumbfounded by the decision and feels referees need to let the games flow a little more.

“It was a muscle contest, a 50-50 and it sucks to see some of these games ruined by some decisions," he said. "It’s mind-boggling to know that that’s a free kick.

“Let play go, let the game flow rather than stop-start, stop-start. That’s why I don’t watch Rugby Union. I can’t handle it, that’s why I watch League more - it flows.

He added: “Even for the A-League fans if it’s stop-start it must kill the game. Play on.”
