AUSTRALIAN FourFourTwo picked up two of the top Footy Fans Down Under awards on Friday night, scooping Website of the Year and Magazine of the Year.
Publisher Andy Jackson collected both trophies - as voted for by football fans across Australia and organised by FFDU's Lee Sutherland - at the ceremony in Melbourne's Marriott Hotel.
Online editor Kevin Airs today thanked our loyal print and web readers for naming us the best in our field for the second year in a row.
"We are absolutely stoked to win these awards again," he said today. "The fact that they are decided by the very people we serve makes the wins all the more satisfying.
"Being able to fend off the challenge from sites like The World Game and Fox Sports with their massive resources compared to us is an enormous compliment.
"But more importantly, it's a reflection of our readers and hopefully our attempts to engage them and make them feel a part of the title through the forums, blogs, podcasts, Twitter, Facebook, commentary teams and now even reader-created video round tables.
"We share these awards with them."
Players honoured among the winners included Thomas Broich named as best Australian based star, and Tim Cahill scooped the overseas Aussie award for the second year running, accepted by Melbourne Heart's Simon Colosimo.
Fox Sports Adam Peacock was also at the ceremony to pick up the football blogger and writer of the year award and also accept Mel McLaughlin's award on her behalf, while The World Game's winners accepted their awards by phone.
Also among the winners was Young Football Writer of the Year Adrian Del Monte who won a paid commission for a magazine feature in FourFourTwo as part of his prize.
