Former Socceroo and Sydney FC National Youth League (NYL) assistant coach David Zdrilic has been appointed as emerging German outfit RB Leizpig’s new youth coach.
The 43-year-old, who has also worked in the Australian football media, will be the 2016-17 Bundesliga runners-up’s new Under-17’s coach.
Zdrilic spent four years playing in Germany with SSV Ulm and SpVgg Unterhaching from 1998 to 2002.
The ex-Socceroo worked with current RB Leipzig technical director Ralf Rangnick at SSV Ulm in the late 1990s.
He has worked in Sydney FC’s coaching ranks since 2015 and is expected to be granted a release to take up the position.
In 2016, Zdrilic became Sydney FC’s assistant coach of the NSW NPL2 side and the club’s under-20s, helping both sides win their leagues.
“I’m really excited to be joining such a big club,” Zdrilic told the Sydney Morning Herald.
