ADELAIDE United midfielder Zenon Caravella has been released from his contract, effective immediately, the club revealed this evening.
Caravella’s request for a move followed discussions with the Reds’ coaching department about his first team chances for the rest of the season.
The club said tonight: "It was mutually agreed that the 29 year old, whose contract was set to end at the conclusion of this season, be released to further his career elsewhere, and the club endorsed this recommendation reached between Caravella and the coaching department."
Adelaide United Football Director Michael Petrillo added: “Zenon has been a terrific club person but we understand his position and wish him well for the future.”
Caravella made 37 appearances in all competitions during his time with the Reds, and has been strongly linked with a move to Sydney.
“I really enjoyed my time at Adelaide United and I leave this city and club with fond memories,” Caravella said in a statement released by the club.
“Unfortunately this season hasn’t worked out for me as I had hoped, but I’m grateful that the club has allowed me to pursue an opportunity elsewhere in search of more regular football.
"I’d like to thank the Adelaide fans for their support, and wish the boys the very best for the rest of the season.”
