EXCLUSIVE: Michael Zullo will pen a new two-year deal with Queensland Roar this week as he urges supporters not to turn their backs on the club.
The youngster insists his heart is with Roar and despite interest from at least two other A-League clubs, he insists that there's nowhere else he'd rather be.
While Zullo is happy to extend his stay at Suncorp Stadium, fans aren't packing the ground in numbers as Frank Farina's men continue to be plagued by an inability to make their home stadium a fortress.
Just more than 11,000 fans watched Friday night's 1-0 defeat by Adelaide United, Roar's third home defeat of the campaign and efforts on home soil this year have done little to banish stories about the so-called 'curse of Suncorp'.
Zullo told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "All the boys are disappointed with another home defeat but it's not like we're playing badly and that's what makes it harder to put your finger on (why).
"I think we were the better side on the night and it's not like we're being dominated by other sides.
"We've conceded another poor goal, another scrappy one even though we felt there was a blatant offside.
"It all leaves you feeling very frustrated."
Zullo knows the importance of keeping supporters coming through the turnstiles for home games though and is urging them to keep turning out.
He said: "It is a concern (attendances) but I'd say to the fans to keep the faith. The players are working hard and will continue to work hard and there is confidence that we can turn it around.
"We're certainly capable of making it happen."
But Zullo revealed he has no intention of losing faith with the club, despite interest from others.
He said: "Hopefully I can get it (new contract) tied up in the next couple of days. This is where I want to be, my heart is here with this club.
"I enjoy playing here and I think it's the perfect environment for me to be in, to carry on working with Frank (Farina) and hopefully one day get a move overseas."
As for the so-called 'curse', Zullo said there had been a slight change of routine ahead of the Adelaide match - albeit it hadn't brought a change in fortune.
He said: "We stayed in a hotel the night before the game, as we do away of course. I think it's something that Frank did when he was playing in Europe.
I've no problems at all with it."
Zullo and his colleagues now have two fixtures on the road before they return to Suncorp for a round 11 clash with Melbourne Victory.
"We just have to show that killer instinct," said Zullo.
