MOSCOW, June 7 (Sputnik) - The Russian national football team need to improve their attacking play as the team are not creating enough chances, Russia midfielder Roman Zobnin said Thursday.
Russia were held to a 1-1 draw in their final pre-World Cup friendly against Turkey on Tuesday and were beaten by Austria 1-0 on May 30. During the game with Austria, Russia failed to conjure up a single shot on goal.
“I agree, there are few chances… I agree that we created few [chances] in the two matches. We will work on it. During training we are focusing on our attacking play,” Zobnin told reporters.
Zobnin, who is 24, plays for Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League and has won 12 Russia caps since his international debut in 2015.
Russia will face Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the World Cup on June 14, and will also play Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
