"I inspected the facilities that our team will use, and I was pleased with what I saw. I highly appreciate the readiness of the airport, the hotel [where the team will stay], and the stadium for the arrival of not only footballers but also the fans. I am sure they will feel comfortable in Grozny,” Nasr said at a meeting with the members of the local government.

Ihab Nasr arrived in the Chechen capital Grozny, where Egypt will be based during the tournament, on Wednesday. He inspected the international terminal of the Grozny airport, the hotel where the team will stay and the Akhmat Arena, where the team will train.

He also asked the members of the local government to provide him with a list of places of interest that the team could visit during their free time.

"We will do everything in our power to make the guests feel comfortable here," the Grozny Mayor Muslim Khuchiyev told Nasr at the meeting.

Egypt have been drawn in Group A along with Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia at the World Cup, which will get underway on June 14
