EXCLUSIVE: UK broadcaster BSkyB will show the Newcastle Jets versus Queensland Roar preliminary final live in the UK this Sunday.
And the UK-based broadcasting giant will also show the A-League grand final live from the SFS the following Sunday.
With a 6pm local kickoff, the match will be screened early Sunday morning in the UK.
The decision to broadcast the game live in the UK is another sign that Australian football is beginning to be taken seriously around the world. The match is also being broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.
The Jets are expecting a full house with a large contingent of traveling Roar supporters likely to make it an even more electric atmosphere.
"We’re going to have all of Newcastle behind us this weekend, so hopefully that can get us over the line,” said Jets skipper Jade North.
The excitement is building ahead of the match many are saying is worth a million dollars to the winner with an Asian Champions League and Grand Final spot up for grabs.
Jets coach Gary Van Egmond added: “And not just the supporters who have been here for this year, but for supporters of football in the Hunter who have been here for many, many years. It’s been a real foothold of Australian football - the Newcastle/Hunter.
"They’re a very knowledgeable crowd, they appreciate good football, they appreciate rolling your sleeves up and having a go, and this weekend we’re going to play for them.”
