FOOTBALL Federation Australia has announced that St Kilda AFL club CEO Archie Fraser will be the new head of the A-League.
He takes over from Rob Abernethy who has been seconded to work on the FFA's Asian Cup bid.
FFA CEO Ben Buckley said Fraser's experience running the Saints as well as his background in football makes him an ideal candidate for the key position.
"Archie is a passionate football fan," said FFA CEO Ben Buckley. "He is a former football player and in coaching and has lead sides in the state leagues and in the NSL.
"Combined with his recent experience with various corporate organisations including the St Kilda Football Club, we're delighted to join our team and will add a layer of experience that will help in the growth of the A-League.
"And he brings some recent knowledge of the operations of one of the most successful codes in this country."
Buckley added that the A-League will continue to work within the FFA's operations rather than being an autonomous body.
