The Reds are this weekend due to celebrate their 1 millionth spectator through the gates in all Hyundai A-League home and away matches that the club has played in.

The Reds have a cumulative crowd of 992,948 in the 72 matches they have played in the A-League since the competition began in 2005, meaning the 7,052nd fan that comes through the gates at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday night will be 1 millionth spectator to attend matches featuring Adelaide United in the Hyundai A-League.

United will become just the third club, behind Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, to reach the milestone, a significant achievement in just the fourth season of the league.

To celebrate the one millionth spectator, the club’s mascot Big Red accompanied by an Adelaide United player will randomly select a member of the crowd against Phoenix, with the lucky recipient winning an exclusive Adelaide United merchandise pack (including ball, shirt, scarf), plus they will also get to be included in an official Adelaide United photo to commemorate the club’s participation in the AFC Champions League Quarter Finals.

Up to now, Adelaide United have drawn an average crowd of approximately 13,790 in each A-League home and away match. The largest home crowd The Reds have played in front of was 25,309 against Sydney FC at the Adelaide Oval on December 28, 2007, which broke the record for the number of people to a football match in South Australia.

Adelaide United were also part of the highest ever A-League and Australian domestic football crowd, 55,436 cramming into the Telstra Dome for the Hyundai A-League 2006/07 Grand Final.

Now entering Round 3 of the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 Season, everyone who goes to Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday will be a part of football history, as Adelaide United prepare to crack the one million spectator mark.

Tickets for the match are available through Venue*Tix by calling (08) 8225 8888 or visiting www.venuetix.com.au. Tickets can also be purchased from the Adelaide United Club Store located at 4A Manton Street, Hindmarsh.
