The Mexicans lie second in their group, level on four points with leaders Uruguay but neither are assured of their place in the last 16.

Having drawn their opening game against South Africa, Aguirre's men claimed their first win in the World Cup with a 2-0 triumph over France but he has warned them there is still work to do.

"We took a giant step with our win against France," said Aguirre. "But there are still things left to do.

"There can be a combination of results in the final group game and we have to be careful.

"Yet we were not as bad against South Africa as some said and now we are not that good just because we beat France.

"We are a team that is trying to find balance, impose its play and we are getting results.

"I hope against Uruguay we have clear ideas in our head and we are strong."

Aguirre will have to make changes to his line-up with Efrain Juarez serving a one-match ban while striker Carlo Vela is out with a muscular injury in his right leg.

"I have to think of our alternatives for the game against Uruguay," he said.
