UAE League leaders Al Wahda claimed an impressive 4-1 victory against Al Fujairah on Thursday, while Al Ain went down 2-0 at the hands of Emirates.
Al Wahda, who started the match with several young faces in their side, had few problems in claiming their 12th league victory to open a four-point gap on closest rivals Al Jazira and Al Wasl who are in action on Friday.
Veteran midfielder Abdul Raheem Jumaa opened the scoring for Al Wahda after only 20 minutes before Saeed Al Katheeri doubled their advantage just before half-time.
Al Wahda received a big blow after the restart with the sending-off of Fahed Masoud who was given his marching orders after the referee found him guilty of delaying the kick-off for the second-half.
However, Al Wahda made it 3-0 just sixty seconds into the half through Basheer Saeed and Mohammed Saeed sealed the win right at the death, before Al Fujairah netted a late consolation through Mohammed Abdullah.
Elsewhere, Al Ain received a confidence blow ahead of their upcoming AFC Champions League match against Saudi league champions Al Shabab, losing 2-0 against at Emirates.
Iranian striker Reza Enayati opened the scoring in the first-half for Emirates before his compatriot Rasoul Khatibi sealed in the 75th minute to give Emirates their 20th league win of the season.
In Thursday's other match, defending champions Al Ahli claimed a 1-0 victory against Al Shabab thanks to a 42nd-minute strike from striker Mohammed Rashed Srour.
