FORMER Melbourne Victory striker Danny Allsopp has staked his claim for a starting slot at DC United after blasting a brace for the MLS team's reserve side.
United have lost both their opening league games this season and have failed to score in either fixture.
Allsopp had no such worries for the reserves though as they thumped Baltimore Crystal Palace 5-2 yesterday.
The Australian forward pounced from close range on 51 minutes before adding a second with a low drive on 65 minutes. Allsopp put in a 67 minute shift before making way.
