Allsopp claimed the Reebok Golden Boot Award last season after scoring 11 goals for Victory who went on to win the A-League Grand Final with a 6-0 win over Adelaide United.

The former Manchester City striker was delighted to secure his future with the Australian side despite interest from Major League Soccer outfit DC United.

"The club is fantastic and most of all I'm enjoying my football, probably more than I ever have," Allsopp said on the club's official website.

"I love it here and I'm glad I've extended my contract for a further two years."

Allsopp scored 11 goals for the Victory during the 2006-2007 Hyundai A-League season, and capped off an excellent year by finishing runner-up to Newcastle's Nick Carle in The Johnny Warren Medal.

Victory Football Operations Manager Gary Cole said that Allsopp was an integral part of their side, and the club was happy to keep him at the club for a further two seasons.

"This is a fantastic signing to keep one of the most potent attackers in the Hyundai A-League at the club for the further two years," Cole said.

"Danny is a true professional and his commitment to Victory is a terrific result for the club and his family."

Having won one cap for the Socceroos during their 2-1 loss to Uruguay at Telstra Stadium in June, Allsopp is hoping to make some more international appearances for Australia in the coming months which will see the national team take on China and Argentina in friendly matches.

"I'm confident in my ability," he said. "It depends on the coach to make the selection. I'll just concentrate on trying to do my best for Victory and see what happens."
