 Aloisi, who scored for Sydney in a practice match against Newcastle Jets yesterday, is believed to be close to agreeing a three-month deal with the club.

However, the deal is not yet complete with Aloisi expected to make a final decision after Sydney's trip to face sister club Shenhua later this month.

The club confirmed to au.fourfourtwo.com that talks have been taking place for some time but officials have been at pains to stress that if something is agreed, it would be a temporary not permanent switch.

Aloisi endured a hugely disappointing first season at Moore Park but with John Kosmina having left, the chance is there to start afresh under incoming coach Vitezslav Lavicka.

Aloisi and the rest of his Sydney colleagues will meet up with their new coach on the Chinese trip in the next fortnight.
