The Pines dropped to bottom of the table after the clash at Paisley Park.

The game was delayed by 15 minutes due to technical problems with the lighting.

After some of the lighting was restored the game was visibly difficult for both teams.

Either team struggled to create any considerable scoring opportunities.

Just after two minutes of play, Altona almost opened the scoring when Henry Fa’Arodo laid off for Micheal Curcija, who’s shot went wide to let Frankston off the hook.

In the 28th minute Nicholas Waite could have boosted Frankston’s spirit when his shot inside the box was inaccurately hit and didn’t threaten the Altona keeper.

31 minutes in, Altona cleared Ross Duckworth’s strike off the line after a dangerous corner, which caught out Altona.

The second half was of a placid nature, when both teams found visibility hard due to the poor light.

Altona’s Pece Cergovski despatched a clinical goal past the Frankston keeper, when speedy Henry Fa’Arodo slotted the ball through the Frankston defence, to leave a one-on-one in the 57th minute for a 1-0 victory.

Henry Fa’Arodo and Agim Sherifovski received the only yellow cards for Altona in the game.

Altona now sits sixth on the ladder, four points clear of Preston, who are yet still to play the impressive Oakleigh.
