NEWCASTLE Jets' English import Francis Jeffers has been ruled out of Wednesday's clash with Gold Coast United due to an ankle injury.
The former Arsenal striker netted in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Perth Glory before rolling his ankle later in the game after a collision with Danny Vukovic which forced him out of the match.
However, the problem has proved to be only minor and while he'll miss Wednesday's home game, he is expected to be fit to face Melbourne Victory on the weekend.
Jets midfielder Kasey Wehrman told reporters: "Missing him is a big blow. I thought if he stayed on the pitch the other night for the last 20 minutes, we probably would have won the game.
"I think he's just a bit bruised and battered and we're hopeful he's only out for a week."
The 30-year-old Englishman has made eight appearances this season, scoring one goal.
