GRAHAM Arnold wants more from his strikers in the final third with the Central Coast Mariners boss frustrated at the chances being squandered during matches so far.
"I will never complain about the mentality and workrate of these boys because it's first class, but I was disappointed with the ruthlessness, we're not ruthless enough in goal. The amount of chances we've created this year and what we can show for it is a little bit disappointing," said the Mariners coach after the 1-1 draw with Sydney FC.
"There are four strikers fighting for two positions and whoever scores goals is going to play, because we can't keep creating the chances we're creating and not score them."
At the other end of the pitch, keeper Matt Ryan is being backed to bounce back after a mistake which cost the Mariners a goal against Sydney FC.
Arnold had encouraging words for the teenager and believes he will bounce back.
Ryan was called into the starting line-up for his A-League debut after Jess van Stratten suffered a serious knee injury in training.
"He is 18-years-of age but kids make mistakes at times but he is fine," said Arnold.
"He has a hell of a good future. I have a lot of confidence in him as all the players have and I thought he had a good debut."
