Second half goals from Richard Garcia and Fraizer Campbell helped take Hull within three points of the Coca-Cola Championship play-off pack and beat a lacklustre Wolves side.
Garcia opened the scoring two minutes after the restart and Campbell sealed a comfortable 2-0 victory with a tap-in just after the hour at the KC Stadium.
The flurry of goals in the second period was a far cry from an opening 45 minutes devoid of any genuine talking points.
But the Tigers made the most of home advantage with an impressive all-round display after the break, with Campbell in particular again lively for Phil Brown's upwardly-mobile side.
Home boss Brown deployed the same starting XI which drew 1-1 at Charlton on Saturday while Michael Gray, Darron Gibson and Stephen Elliott were omitted from the Wolves side and Freddy Eastwood was recalled in attack.
Andy Keogh shot over from 35 yards inside the opening 90 seconds as the visitors looked to make an early impact and Caleb Folan had a goalbound effort blocked by Rob Edwards.
Keogh continued to be in the thick of the action as he drilled wide from outside the penalty area after 20 minutes, with the hosts unusually subdued on home soil.
Chances were at a real premium for both sides despite a promising opening and goalkeeper Boaz Myhill produced a smart save to tip Eastwood's 25-yard right-footed drive around the post nine minutes before the interval.
Seyi George Olofinjana fired wide from distance on the stroke of half-time and after a low-key first half it took just two minutes after the restart for Garcia to net the opener for Hull.
On-loan Manchester United youngster Campbell was afforded too much time and space out wide on the left flank and his cross was powered past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey from 12 yards.
The Australian's fourth goal of the season illuminated an otherwise dull encounter and served to kick-start the Tigers, with Ian Ashbee unfortunate to see his 18-yard goalward shot hacked to safety by Darren Ward.
Campbell then found himself in the right place at the right time to double Hull's lead after 61 minutes.
Ashbee saw his close-range header from Andy Dawson's centre well saved by Hennessey but Campbell pounced to prod home from six yards and notch his third goal in as many games.
A lot has been made of Campbell's recent progress away from Old Trafford - he has scored six times for Hull and produced a string of dazzling displays - and Brown will be desperate to extend the 20-year-old's loan deal beyond the end of next month.
He drilled straight at Hennessey moments later, while at the other end, Keogh blazed wide from 12 yards.
Campbell made way for Nick Barmby 11 minutes from time as the former England international continues to rebuild his career after overcoming a serious knee injury.
Wolves had barely troubled Myhill all afternoon and it was little surprise to see them unable to find a way back into the game as Hull claimed a deserved three points.
